Betsy Berns Korn Elected For a Second Term as Conference of Presidents Chair; Matthew Bronfman Approved as Chair-Elect

New York, NY — The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations issued the following statement:

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations announces that Betsy Berns Korn was formally re-elected to a second one-year term as Chair, beginning June 1, 2026. Matthew Bronfman, Board of Governors Chair of Hillel International, was elected Chair-elect following a full Conference vote earlier today.

Following the vote, Korn said, “I am grateful and honored to be re-elected as Chair of the Conference of Presidents at such a consequential moment for the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Over the past year, our community has confronted rising antisemitism, wars with Iran and its proxies, and growing challenges on campuses and in the public square. Throughout these difficult times, the Conference of Presidents has helped bring together diverse Jewish organizations in support of Israel, Jewish security, and our shared communal interests.

“I look forward to continuing this important work alongside William Daroff, our member organizations, and our outstanding lay and professional leadership. I also look forward to working closely with Matthew as he assumes the role of Chair-elect. I have great confidence in his leadership and in the future of the Conference.”

Matthew Bronfman chairs the Board of Governors of Hillel International, where he advances Jewish campus life, philanthropy, and efforts to confront campus antisemitism. He has held this role since December 2020 and also serves as Honorary Chair of NYU Hillel. He sits on the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee, where he previously served six years as Chair of the Board of Trustees and twelve years on the Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Conference’s Executive Council.

His record reflects sustained leadership across local, national, and international Jewish life. He led the 92nd Street Y as both President and Chair, and he chairs the International Steering Committee of Limmud FSU, which engages Russian-speaking Jewish communities worldwide. He also serves on the Board of the Claims Conference and chairs its Audit Committee.

In the private sector, Matthew serves as Chairman and CEO of BHB Holdings, a private investment firm with diverse interests. He oversees the IKEA franchise in Israel and maintains significant real estate holdings in Israel and the United States. He serves as a Director of Lincoln Avenue Communities and chairs Bronfman LLC, a growth capital firm. He earned his BA from Williams College and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Following the vote, Bronfman said, “I am honored by the confidence of the members of the COP and I look forward to working alongside Betsy Korn and William Daroff as we confront the most challenging times for the Jewish community in decades. The work of the conference has never been more necessary and important and I know that we will continue to advocate for both the Jewish communities in America and for the state of Israel with passion and dedication.”

We are confident that Betsy and Matthew will serve the Conference of Presidents and the American Jewish community with dedication and distinction.
