Conference of Presidents Commends U.S. Actions Defending Israel at United Nations and Opposing Politicized ICC Efforts

New York, NY – Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement in strong support of recent U.S. actions at the United Nations and the International Criminal Court:

We commend the United States for its principled veto of a deeply flawed United Nations Security Council resolution that demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza but failed to hold Hamas accountable for its atrocities. By drawing a false and dangerous equivalence between a U.S.-designated terrorist organization and a democratic ally, the resolution undermined the credibility of the United Nations and obstructed vital diplomatic efforts led by President Trump and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

We also applaud Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s announcement of sanctions on four judges of the International Criminal Court who have pursued politically motivated investigations against American and Israeli officials. These illegitimate efforts threaten the integrity of international law and represent an abuse of judicial authority.

Taken together, these two actions — the United Nations veto and the imposition of ICC sanctions — send a clear and powerful message: The United States will not allow its allies to be targeted by biased international bodies, nor will it permit the erosion of its own sovereignty. They affirm the enduring strength of the U.S.-Israel alliance and our nations’ shared commitment to justice, security, and the defense of democratic values.
