Jerusalem, Israel – William C. Daroff, CEO, and Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
The Conference of Presidents proudly congratulates Malcolm Hoenlein upon receiving the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest civilian award. Bestowed by President Isaac Herzog, this prestigious accolade appropriately recognizes Malcolm’s decades of unwavering service to the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
As the Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents, Malcolm dedicated his life to fostering Jewish unity, strengthening U.S.-Israel relations, and combating antisemitism across the globe. His steadfast advocacy leaves an indelible mark that makes the Jewish world a better place.
Malcolm’s leadership is a beacon of strength and a source of inspiration for our community. His extraordinary contributions continue to advance the security and prosperity of Israel and deepen the bonds within the global Jewish community.
Established by the late President Shimon Peres, the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor celebrates individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Israel and humanity. Malcolm now joins a distinguished group of past recipients, including U.S. presidents and other global leaders, who worked to advance justice, peace, and the well-being of the Jewish people.
Malcolm’s tireless efforts embody the resilience and unity that define our shared purpose. This honor is yet another testament to his enduring legacy and his profound impact on the Jewish people worldwide.
The Conference of Presidents also celebrates the recognition of Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) Chair Julie Platt, who received this esteemed honor today as well. Julie Platt’s position on the Conference’s Executive Council and her exceptional leadership of JFNA continue to inspire and advance the collective mission of the global Jewish community. We also applaud Ronald Lauder who will receive the award later this month, a deserved accolade for a lifelong commitment to Jewish advocacy and philanthropy, including as former chair of the Conference of Presidents and of the Jewish National Fund.
