The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations engaged in a lengthy and comprehensive search process since Malcolm Hoenlein announced his request to change his status at the Conference last year. In addition to hiring a highly respected search firm, members of the Search Committee and members of the Conference provided suggestions and recommendations of potential candidates, many of whom were interviewed. The process was conducted professionally and with integrity. Several candidates were invited back for the final rounds of interviews and the Search Committee came to a unanimous recommendation that William Daroff, Senior Vice President for Public Policy & Director of the Washington office of the JFNA, be selected and the members of the Executive Council unanimously endorsed the choice. William will be introduced at the general meeting of the Conference’s fifty three member agencies on September 9th. The transition will take place in early 2020 and Malcolm Hoenlein will remain as Vice Chairman thereafter, providing counsel and guidance, as well as leading special projects.

His many years of advocacy and bridge building uniquely qualify him to follow in Malcolm’s footsteps. With the professional leadership of William and Malcolm and the support of the member organizations we are confident the Conference will move ahead to greater heights as we work together to address the many challenges facing us at home and abroad.
