. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“The international community must not ignore the clear, present, and proven danger of Iran, which is set on sowing chaos and destruction, extending its control, and imposing its radical ideology. Urgent action needs to be taken in the limited time available.
This regime is awash with the blood of Americans, Israelis, and others on its hands, through its own actions and through its terrorist proxies. This regime openly and repeatedly calls for the downfall of the United States and for the genocide of the Jewish people through the annihilation of the Jewish State. Iran must not be given license to become a greater threat to the stability and security of the Middle East and the entire world.
With the UN embargo on Iranian arms expiring in October, we urge the UN Security Council to immediately take measures that will stop Iran’s quest for regional hegemony and its development of a nuclear weapons capacity. We appreciate the overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress for extending the embargo on arms sales to the regime, as well as the efforts of the U.S. Administration to do so. We also note today’s recognition of Iran’s ‘systematic noncompliance’ with the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action by France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Lifting the embargo will enable Iran to immediately secure more sophisticated war planes and advanced weaponry from Russia, China, and others. This will enable Iran to further threaten our allies in the region, increase their aggression, and aggravate the terrorism carried out by Iranian allies and militias.”
