Jewish Leaders Mourn the Loss of Secretary Madeleine Albright

…Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We join in paying tribute to Secretary Madeleine Albright and her extraordinary contributions to the nation. Particularly in such challenging times, we are inspired by her incredible journey – escaping the terrors of both Nazi Germany and of Soviet communism – and by her resolve to prevent the past atrocities of fascism and authoritarianism being inflicted on future generations. Her commitment to defending democratic values, while championing respect, and empathy for others, defines her legacy in public service, especially as the first female Secretary of State in U.S. history.

“The Conference of Presidents had a long standing relationship with Secretary Albright having worked with her during her time at the United Nations and leading the State Department.

“May her memory continue to inspire all and the commitment to serving the country Madeleine Albright so loved in the ways she exemplified.”
