Jewish Leaders Condemn Iranian and Palestinian Rejection of Peace, Welcome Embrace of Israel by Others in Region

We strongly condemn yesterday’s vile antisemitic tweet by the Ayatollah Khamenei, in which he refers to Jews as ‘filthy Zionist agents’ while demonizing the United Arab Emirates for normalizing ties with the State of Israel. This hateful and inciteful rhetoric has no place on any social media platform, and we demand that it be taken down and his accounts blocked….

. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We strongly condemn yesterday’s vile antisemitic tweet by the Ayatollah Khamenei, in which he refers to Jews as ‘filthy Zionist agents’ while demonizing the United Arab Emirates for normalizing ties with the State of Israel. This hateful and inciteful rhetoric has no place on any social media platform, and we demand that it be taken down and his accounts blocked.

The rogue extremist regime in Iran continues in its quest to destroy the Jewish State, while its clients Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Palestinian Authority maintain a war footing despite Israel’s longstanding willingness to negotiate. The Palestinians’ stubborn reluctance to even discuss peaceful solutions is increasingly out of step with the rest of the Arab and Muslim world. Emiratis are welcoming the historic Abraham Accord as are governments in the region and beyond. Saudi Arabia announced today that it will allow flights between the UAE and Israel to travel through its airspace, a most welcome gesture reflective of the changing dynamic in the Middle East.

We applaud the Saudis for taking this meaningful step, and hope that mutually beneficial cooperation will follow. We also look to others in the region to join in embracing peace at this critical time. We hope to see the Palestinian Authority have a change of heart and finally demonstrate that it is open to peaceful coexistence with Israel.”
