Jewish Leaders Commemorate One Year Since October 7 on Israel Mission

Jerusalem, Israel – Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, released the following statement:

October 7 is a date now seared into the consciousness of the Jewish people. On this first anniversary of the Hamas Pogrom, we hold in our hearts the memory of the 1,200 people massacred on that day; we seek the immediate return of the 101 hostages who remain in the Terror Army’s dungeons in Gaza; and we recommit ourselves to Israel’s just war against the terror proxies that ring its borders.

For the third time since the Hamas pogrom, the Conference of Presidents–complete with representatives of its 50 member organizations–has embarked on a mission to Israel.

We are here to show solidarity with Israel after a harrowing year. As is our practice, the Conference will meet with top government officials, soldiers and their military leadership, cultural figures, and civil society representatives who are leading the Jewish state through this great moment of trial.

We will also hear from survivors of the Hamas attack and the family members of victims and hostages; multiple separate memorial ceremonies are on our docket.

Our message is clear: American Jews stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel, and will continue to help them however we can. Nenatzeach B’Yachad – together, we will win.
