New York, NY… Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is pleased to announce that Harriet P. Schleifer has been formally re-elected for a second one-year term as Chair, beginning June 1, 2024, while Betsy Berns Korn, the National Board Chair and immediate past National President of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), has been elected Chair-elect following a full Conference Vote Tuesday afternoon.
Following the vote, Harriet P. Schleifer said, “I am deeply gratified to be re-elected as Chair of the Conference of Presidents. I am motivated by my commitment to our strong peoplehood and to utilizing this position to continue fostering the health and vitality of the American Jewish community. The privilege of serving in this position is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”
Betsy Berns Korn served as National President of the three-million member AIPAC from March 2020 through January 2023 and currently serves as AIPAC’s National Board Chair since January 2023. She has extensive global relationships and board leadership experience. Betsy has visited, engaged with, and developed meaningful relationships with a broad range of political leaders, business leaders, and diplomats across the United States, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Her six trips to Israel (including twice with the Conference of Presidents) since October 7th in support of the US-Israel relationship are evidence of her dedication as a committed team player and bridge-builder who has always prioritized her leadership positions.
In addition to serving on the Executive Council of the Conference, Betsy is a Trustee of Claremont McKenna College, a member of the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee, a Board Member of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation, and a member of the Israel Economic Forum. Betsy is an accomplished writer with several published sports guidebooks.
She is also the founder of BVision Sportsmedia, a sports marketing company, and previously served as a consultant to the National Football League and the Daily Racing Form.
Following her election, Betsy Berns Korn said, “I am honored to be named Chair-elect to the Conference of Presidents at such an urgent time, and I look forward to working with the talented leadership of the Conference and the member organizations in pursuit of our shared goals.”
