. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, who attended the White House event with President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu today, issued the following statement:
“It is an historic day. We laud the President and all the members of his team that worked so hard over three years to prepare this comprehensive proposal which we hope will be the basis for negotiations and lasting peace. We saw today the fullest expression of the US-Israel relationship and America’s commitment to Israel’s long term security, fulfilling Palestinian aspirations, and to providing a lasting solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
We look forward to studying the details but are encouraged by the fact that the two major parties representing the majority of the people of Israel have accepted it. We hope they will be joined by leaders of European countries, Arab states in the region, and ultimately by the leaders of the Palestinians in accepting this detailed and constructive framework.
The Palestinians are given the opportunity to deliberate, and hopefully, conclude an agreement over the next four years, while Israel freezes construction in the areas that the Palestinians would receive under the plan. The Palestinians stand to gain much with the promise of 50 billion dollars of investment and a state with defined territory. During that time Israel can move ahead with steps that will enhance its security and define the areas under its sovereignty, in accordance with the plan’s provisions. This can be a new beginning for the region, paving the way for a new era of Palestinian prosperity, full relationships between Israel and Arab states, and peace in the Middle East. We look forward to meaningful negotiations and, in the interim, the implementation of the plan’s provisions.”
