. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We congratulate the government of Greece for officially adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, as announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Furthermore we applaud Greece for appointing Dr. Efstathios Lianos Liantis as Special Envoy on Combating Anti-Semitism and Preserving the Memory of the Holocaust. This gives expression to the Prime Minister’s earlier declarations against antisemitism.
These steps taken by Greece represent an important moral declaration, vital to the fight against Jew-hatred and racism. We hope to see additional countries undertake similar commitments as part of their efforts to fight the rapidly increasing anti-Jewish manifestations and racism in all its forms.”
