Conference of Presidents Urges Senators to Reject Resolutions of Disapproval of Israel Arms Sales

New York, NY – Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, released the following statement:

We urge members of the United States Senate to support President Biden’s proposed arms sales to Israel by voting against resolutions of disapproval sponsored by Senator Bernie Sanders.

On the 410th day of Israel’s existential war for its existence with Iranian proxies and other adversaries on every border, Congress must communicate its continued ironclad support of our ally.

The weapons in this package are already subject to existing regulations under American law and must not be delayed or withheld for political purposes.

Just yesterday, Hezbollah shot over 100 rockets into Israel, killing one and wounding dozens more. As Iran resupplies its proxies around the region, as Hamas retains a presence in Gaza and still holds more than 100 hostages including American citizens — now more than ever, it is in America’s national security interest to remain strong and back its allies in the region.

We urge Senators to stand with Israel and vote against the resolutions of disapproval.
