New York, NY … The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations at its General Meeting of member organizations, paid tribute to Ambassador David Roet, on the completion of his distinguished four-year tenure as Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations.
During his time in New York, the Conference of Presidents hosted Ambassador Roet on numerous occasions to brief the leadership of our member organizations on complex issues of international diplomacy, the important recent successes Israel has achieved in the UN and, the all too often biased treatment accorded it in the international body.
Conference Chairman Stephen M. Greenberg and Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein thanked Ambassador Roet for his exceptional service and for always being available to meet with the Conference leadership to provide astute analysis and respond to the difficult questions raised.
Mr. Greenberg said, “As Ambassador Roet prepares to return to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem for his next assignment on behalf of the State of Israel and the Jewish people, we express our deep appreciation for the outstanding work he has done at the UN. We are especially grateful for the opportunity we had to work with Ambassador Roet as a true partner in our shared commitment to Israel’s security, the unity of the Jewish people and to strengthening the ties between the American Jewish community and Israel.”
Mr. Hoenlein in presenting Ambassador Roet with a token of appreciation from the Conference as a reminder of our friendship and gratitude, said, “Ambassador Roet is not only a dedicated and talented diplomat, he is a very special human being. He is recognized by friends and adversaries alike for his firm, always fair and proud representation of Israel at the UN and his devoted commitment to presenting Israel as a full and equal member of the community of nations on issues far beyond the conflict. It is our special responsibility to acknowledge and pay tribute to Ambassador Roet, who worked day in and day out over the past four years on behalf of Israel and with the Conference of Presidents to make our efforts on behalf Israel more impactful. We extend our warmest wishes to Ambassador Roet and his family and look forward to working with him in his next assignment at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.”
