Conference of Presidents Condemns Terrorist Shooting in Jerusalem

Washington, D.C. – Dianne Lob, Chair, and William Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“The Conference of Presidents stands in solidarity with the victims and families affected by the heinous terrorist attack this evening at a synagogue in Jerusalem’s Neve Yaakov neighborhood. Our hearts are heavy with grief as we mourn the loss of eight innocent worshipers, whose lives were tragically cut short while they were at prayer.

“We commend the swift and heroic actions of law enforcement and first responders, who were able to locate and neutralize the attacker. Their efforts have undoubtedly saved lives and prevented further harm to civilians.

“This act of terrorism, particularly egregious on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, is a stark reminder that the threat of violence and hatred towards Jewish communities remains all too real. We reiterate our call for the Palestinian Authority to stop rewarding the killing of Jews through its notorious “pay to slay” terrorist incentive system.

“We will not be deterred by terrorists and pledge to continue to support the efforts of the Israeli government and security forces to keep the citizens of Israel safe.”
