Conference of Presidents Condemns Terrorist Attack in Tel Aviv and Applauds Bipartisan Support for Israel’s Right to Self-Defense

New York, NY – Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, and William Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We strongly condemn yesterday’s heinous terrorist attack in Tel Aviv, which injured at least 9 people, including several who are in critical condition. We offer our solidarity and prayers to the victims, their families, and all the people of Israel and wish all the injured full and speedy recoveries.

“Terrorist attacks on civilians must not continue. The international community must join us in demanding that the Palestinian Authority stop encouraging and incentivizing terror through its reprehensible ‘pay-to-slay’ policies that reward acts of terror against Israelis by financially compensating perpetrators and their families with so-called ‘martyr’ payments.

“Simultaneously, we applaud and support the brave men and women of the IDF who engaged in the recently concluded counterterror operations in Jenin.

“We call on the international community to recognize Israel’s right to self-defense in accordance with international law and condemn the terrorists who illegally use schools, mosques, and hospitals to stockpile weapons. We commend the Biden administration and the US Congress for demonstrating continued bipartisan support for Israeli security throughout the operation in Jenin and for supporting a robust bilateral relationship.”
