American Jewish Leaders Condemn Week of Terror Attacks in Israel

New York, NY – Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We are appalled by the attack near Tel Aviv Tuesday, where a Palestinian terrorist deliberately targeted and murdered at least five people in Israel. This is the third terrorist attack inside Israel in only the last week. The two previous attacks were inspired by ISIS, one of which took place during the historic Negev summit, the first-ever convening of foreign ministers of Israel, the United States, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as the first visit to Israel by foreign ministers from the UAE and Morocco.

“We call on this critical coalition, as well as the entire international community, to reject ‘pay-for-slay’ incentives by the Palestinian Authority (PA) that promote the killing of Jews and Israelis for profit. The actions of these terrorists will continue to benefit their family members for years, as they are provided with a pension as a reward for such murderous martyrdom. Until this despicable practice is eliminated, the PA cannot be a legitimate partner for peace. Similarly, nations funding the PA must seriously consider the connection between their money and the spilling of civilian blood.

“We stand with Israel’s government, security services, and people as they mourn the loss of life. May the memories of the victims be for blessings and may their families be comforted among all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.”
