. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We commend President Trump for signing the Securing Faith-Based and Nonprofit Organizations from Terrorism Act of 2019, which authorizes a total of $375 million in federal security grants for non-profits including synagogues, churches, and mosques. The funds will be administered through the Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which will award $75 million in security funding annually for five years.
We also thank the House and Senate sponsors of this legislation, Representatives Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Peter King (R-NY), and Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Gary Peters (D-MI) for their work and support on this critical issue. At a time of sharply increasing bias incidents across the country, especially anti-Jewish acts, this funding will be vitally important.”
