. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We are appalled by recent incendiary remarks made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a gathering of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.
Nothing is achieved by calling for a clash between the West and the Islamic world. Nothing is achieved by trafficking in outrageous lies and slanderous distortions about Israel, which inflame tensions and incite violence.
This aggressive and dangerous rhetoric will not advance peace or benefit anyone, and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms. Perhaps Erdogan should examine his own record before hurling baseless claims of human rights abuses at Israel.”
