Conference of Presidents Denounces Anti-Israel UN Resolutions, Praises US Leadership in Rejecting Them

. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We are outraged by the latest display of blatant bias against Israel at the UN, which passed five resolutions singling out the Jewish State this week. We salute the United States for taking leadership in rejecting these counterproductive measures.

Once again we see that the UN continues business as usual, without any explicit recognition of the 2,600 rockets fired at Israel over the last two years or the attacks against Israel coming from Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. Alarming and repeated declarations by Iran and others of their determination to destroy Israel, fall on deaf ears.

We thank the 23 countries who stood up for truth and integrity by voting against the resolution titled ‘Division for Palestinian Rights of the Secretariat,’ which praises a UN body that spends millions of dollars to engage in propagandizing on behalf of the Palestinians and against Israel. While this resolution was passed, we welcome the 54 abstentions.

We hope to see the UN move beyond its biases and live up to its lofty purpose as an international body meant to treat all nations equally, and stop its consistent slanderous and discriminatory treatment of the Jewish State.”
