Conference of Presidents Applauds Important Motions Passed in Dutch House of Representatives

New York, NY, November 21st, 2019 . . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We applaud the Dutch House of Representatives for its two important motions passed this week which demonstrate the resolve of Dutch lawmakers to stand up to injustice.

The first rightfully objects to the recent anti-Israel ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union, protesting its unequal treatment of the Jewish State. The motion states that singling out goods produced by Israelis in the West Bank for specific labeling is patently unfair, given that no other nation involved in a territorial dispute has been subjected to such requirements.

In the second, lawmakers voted to curb funding to the Palestinian Authority due to the PA’s abhorrent ‘pay-to-slay’ policy which rewards terrorists who murder Israelis through payments to their families. Any future Dutch aid to the PA will be earmarked for specific purposes to ensure that none of it ends up being used to incentivize terror attacks.

In passing these measures, the Netherlands sets a courageous example which we hope to see others follow swiftly in Europe and around the world.”
