In First Meeting With an American Jewish Leader, Newly Elected Labor Party Chairman Avi Gabbay Met Malcolm Hoenlein

Jerusalem, Israel. . . Avi Gabbay, the newly elected chairman of Israel’s Labor party held his first meeting with an American Jewish leader conferring with Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, on the day after he was elected to lead Israel’s opposition party. They discussed a wide range of issues regarding Israel’s domestic and foreign policies and US-Israel relations.

Mr. Hoenlein said he was impressed by Mr. Gabbay’s openness and his understanding of the issues. “We have had a long relationship with Isaac Herzog and other Labor party leaders over the years, which will continue with Mr. Gabbay under his new leadership. We look forward to the opportunity to host him in New York”, said Mr. Hoenlein. 

Mr. Gabbay, 50, was Environmental Protection Minister in the current government representing the Kulanu party before resigning in 2016 and had a successful business career including as CEO of Bezeq.
