The 2015 Nominating Committee of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations has recommended Stephen Greenberg, Chairman of NCSEJ – National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry, to serve as Chairman beginning June 1, 2015. Mr. Greenberg has a long history of Jewish communal involvement. Early on, he served as National Chairman of the UJA Young Leadership Cabinet and a founding member of the North American Jewish Forum. He held leadership positions in a variety of Jewish organizations including National Vice Chairman of Hillel International; President of American Friends of Beit Hatfutsot; National Vice Chair of UJA; and Treasurer of The Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation.

He is an attorney specializing in high level mediation who has also been involved in business and investments. Mr. Greenberg, a graduate of George Washington University National Law School, was a founding partner of Stern & Greenberg and is Managing Partner of Pilgrim Mediation Group. He was Chairman and CEO of Net2Phone and IDT Spectrum.

In other areas of public service, Mr. Greenberg is Chair of New Jersey Federal Judicial Selection Committee; Member of NJ Public Broadcasting Authority; Member of NJ Israel Commission; and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He has received numerous honors and awards.

“We were blessed with outstanding and talented candidates. The Committee looked at the current and future demands facing the American Jewish community and what qualities would be essential to lead the Conference. We were privileged to have had such high quality candidates, each a talented and devoted leader,” said Richard Stone, Chairman of the Nominating Committee and Conference of Presidents past Chairman.

Richard Stone continued, “I have known Steve for many years and worked closely with him at NCSEJ. He is sincerely committed to fostering the wellbeing of Jews around the world, the security of Israel and the vibrant special US-Israel relationship. He is knowledgeable about the issues and has participated in the Conference for years. The Committee was fully confident that he will continue to advance the Conference’s vital work.”

Robert G. Sugarman, current Conference Chairman, said, “The Conference of Presidents is fortunate to have Steve Greenberg as its next chairman. The next two years will indeed be challenging with many critical issues including Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the rise of anti-Semitism around the globe, the threats posed by Islamist terror organizations, strengthening the US-Israel relationship at all levels, combatting the BDS manifestation on our campuses, etc. Steve’s personal and professional background and his mediation skills make him well suited for the position. We were truly fortunate to have had outstanding candidates.”

Greenberg’s nomination will be presented to the full Conference of Presidents membership for their approval at a meeting on April 29th.
