The co-founders and co-chairs of the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and James Lankford (R-OK), today welcomed the launch of the Shine A Light campaign. This national initiative illuminates the dangers of antisemitism through education, community partnerships, workplace engagement, and advocacy.
“Antisemitism is a pervasive and dangerous threat across the country, and we need leaders in Washington to set aside partisan differences and join together in raising awareness about this issue,” Senator Rosen said. “We are committed to shining a light on this bigotry and taking action to vanquish the world’s oldest hatred.”
“The will to end antisemitism worldwide is a uniting force that brings people of all backgrounds together to stand with our Jewish friends and neighbors and block out antisemitic hate,” said Senator Lankford. “As we join Jewish communities around the world to celebrate Hanukkah, we remember how God kept the candles burning when holding on to the light seemed hopeless. May we be a shining light to help educate others about the still-present threats to Jews and their families and stand absolutely against antisemitism.”
A core element of the Shine A Light campaign is to promote adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) Working Definition of antisemitism. The Shine A Light campaign is focused on shining a bright light on antisemitism in the United States—whether it hides in the shadows or in plain sight.
