. . . Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We commend the European Parliament for passing a resolution that censures the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for fostering the spread of antisemitism and incitement to violence against the Jewish State, becoming the first legislature to make this important moral statement.
The censure resolution demands reform and accountability for UNRWA, rightfully recognizing that it is unacceptable for such harmful and hateful propaganda targeting a UN member state to be disseminated, including in textbooks distributed to schoolchildren, by a UN organization. The resolution also urges that future European Union funding for UNRWA is only provided after the agency has demonstrated compliance with the UN’s stated values of peace, tolerance, coexistence, and non-violence.
We are hopeful that this development will lead to much-needed changes at UNRWA, and we encourage the United States government to follow through on its commitment to hold UNRWA to account for its consistent misdeeds.”
