Jewish Leaders Applaud Trump Administration Sanctions and Reject ICC’s Politicized Targeting of Israel

New York, NY — Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s announcement of sanctions, issued by the Trump Administration against four officials of the International Criminal Court, sends a clear and necessary signal: the United States will not tolerate the misuse of international law to target the Jewish state.

Since October 7, those hostile to Israel have repurposed the ICC, conceived in the aftermath of the Holocaust to prosecute crimes against humanity, as a tool to delegitimize Israel’s right to self-defense and to shield Hamas’s brutal rule in Gaza.

The arrest warrants issued for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are illegitimate, unjustified, and an affront to the principles the Court was intended to uphold.

This decisive response affirms the United States’ commitment to standing with Israel in its pursuit of security, sovereignty, and peace.
