Conference of Presidents Welcomes Kazakhstan to the Abraham Accords

New York, NY — Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We warmly welcome the announcement that Kazakhstan will join the Abraham Accords. Strengthening and expanding this historic initiative advances not only Israel’s security and prosperity but also marks a major step forward in promoting peace, stability, and cooperation in the Middle East and beyond.

“Kazakhstan and Israel have maintained full diplomatic and economic relations for over 30 years, a testament to their long-standing commitment to constructive international engagement. Kazakhstan’s joining the Abraham Accords represents a meaningful step in deepening ties between Israel and the broader Arab and Muslim world, reviving the Accords as a framework for regional cooperation.

“We commend President Donald Trump for his visionary leadership in launching and advancing the Abraham Accords, which have created unprecedented opportunities to pursue diplomacy, partnership, and mutual understanding in the region.

“The Conference of Presidents has also maintained a meaningful relationship with Kazakhstan for more than two decades, dating back to our first mission there twenty years ago. We recognize Kazakhstan’s sustained commitment to Jewish life, religious tolerance, and strong bilateral ties with both Israel and the United States.

“In light of these achievements, we have long advocated for Kazakhstan’s graduation from the Jackson-Vanik Amendment. Repealing Jackson-Vanik would be both symbolically and strategically significant, affirming Kazakhstan’s modern record while strengthening the framework of partnership that the Abraham Accords embody.

“Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords marks an important step toward expanding peace, stability, and cooperation in the region. We hope that other nations will follow Kazakhstan’s example and join this transformative initiative, further promoting dialogue, collaboration, and shared security.”
