New York, NY – Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“The Conference of Presidents congratulates Israel’s incoming Prime Minister Yair Lapid and commends now-Alternate Prime Minister Naftali Bennett for his dedicated leadership and service. Both leaders are longtime friends of the Conference of Presidents and deeply committed to the strength of the relationship between Israel and Diaspora communities. They were also committed to the resilience of Israeli democracy, which has flourished through war and peace for more than seven decades.
“We look forward to working with Prime Minister Lapid to deepen the unbreakable bond between America and Israel, counter the growing threat posed by Iran, advance the Abraham Accords and other regional normalization agreements, and to combat the scourge of global antisemitism.
“From the recent Leadership Mission to Greece, Cyprus and Israel of American Jewish and American Hellenic organizations, to the annual mission hosted by the Conference of Presidents in Jerusalem, as well as his own diplomatic visits to Washington, D.C., Prime Minister Lapid has exemplified with enthusiasm and generosity the enduring strength of the U.S.-Israel relationship. We wish him great success as he leads Israel over the months ahead.”
