Conference of Presidents Stands in Solidarity With Asian American Community

. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We are deeply disturbed by the horrific shootings in Atlanta this week that represent the culmination of a year of increased hatred and violence directed at Asian Americans.

Though the perpetrator’s motives are still being investigated, the fact remains that there has been a dramatic rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans across the country since the beginning of the pandemic. These attacks are fueled by scapegoating and xenophobia, and should alarm all Americans. We are stronger as a nation because of our diversity, and the targeting of Asian Americans for no reason other than their ethnicity is an affront to our values as a people.

We stand in solidarity with the Asian American community in the face of this latest tragedy, and condemn racism and bigotry in all its forms. We must stop the hate and reverse this terrible trend in our country.”
