. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We welcome the city of Paris adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism through a decision made by the Council of Paris, which is led by Mayor Anne Hidalgo.
Paris joins a list of other major cities around the world, including London, that have taken this important step. This global coalition, which continues to expand daily, reflects the broad support that exists for the most authoritative and internationally accepted definition of antisemitism as an educational tool, as well as the widespread view that it is critically important to define antisemitism in order to combat it successfully.
We thank Mayor Hidalgo and the people of Paris for their support of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, and we strongly encourage others to follow in adopting the definition as a key instrument in addressing the urgent threat of antisemitism.”
