The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations commends the United States Senate for its overwhelming rejection of proposed measures to ban critical weapons sales to Israel during its existential fight against Iran and its terrorist proxies. This bipartisan vote reinforces the United States’ steadfast commitment to Israel’s security and underscores the profound American support for its closest ally in the Middle East.
The rejection of these harmful proposals reflects an understanding that curbing Israel’s access to necessary arms — including JDAMS, which make munitions more precise and decrease the possibility of collateral damage — would only embolden those who seek to undermine its sovereignty and threaten regional stability. By standing firmly with Israel, the Senate has reaffirmed its role as a vital partner in safeguarding the security of the Jewish state and the broader U.S.-Israel relationship.
As Iran escalates its aggression through proxy warfare and continues its campaign of terror, Israel requires the resources and tools to protect its citizens and defeat common threats. These arms sales are not only critical to Israel’s defense but also enhance U.S. strategic interests and create jobs at home.
