New York, NY — Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We commend President Trump for his Executive Order directing the Departments of State and Treasury, along with the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence, to begin the process of designating specific chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists. This action strengthens American national security, reinforces the safety of our allies, and confronts extremist movements that threaten stability across the Middle East.
“For decades, the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliated branches promoted antisemitism, spread radical ideology, encouraged violence, and supported groups that target civilians and destabilize governments committed to peace. These networks drive conflict, inflame hatred toward Jews and Israel, and endanger the security interests of the United States and responsible regional partners.
“His Executive Order launches a focused review that will identify the chapters that meet the standards for designation. This step equips the United States with stronger tools to cut off financial, operational, and ideological support for extremist movements and to hold accountable the actors that fuel regional violence.
“We are confident the administration will advance this process with clarity and determination. We also encourage Congress to support efforts that confront extremist ideologies, disrupt networks of radicalization, and strengthen America’s partnerships with nations that seek peace and stability.”
