New York, NY – Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, released the following statement:
We applaud Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s decision to expedite $4 billion in arms transfers to Israel. It is a welcome sign that the United States remains committed, absent qualification or caveat, to the Jewish state’s ability to defend itself and maintain a qualitative military edge in the wider Middle East. Secretary Rubio’s announcement, which comes on the heels of a series of decisions bolstering Israel’s defenses, is a testament to the Trump administration’s determination to reinforce the bilateral relationship for the benefit of both countries. It is in this spirit that peace in the wider region can be achieved, building on the legacy of the Abraham Accords and in upholding Israel’s rights to protect its citizens and sovereign territory.
