Conference of Presidents Applauds Passage of UN Resolution Linking Terrorism and Antisemitism

. . . Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We welcome the UN General Assembly’s passage of a Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy (GCTS) resolution that denotes the link between terrorism and antisemitism.

The resolution names antisemitism, along with other forms of hate, as causes of terrorist activity. The GCTS is reviewed every two years, and this is the first time it has included this important language. In keeping with previous iterations, this resolution also condemns the use of human shields by terror organizations, a disgraceful strategy that is routinely used by Hamas and was on display in the recent conflict in May.

Amidst a dramatic rise in antisemitic attacks in the United States and around the world, it is imperative that the international community calls out this disturbing trend in the cause of terrorism.”
