Conference of Presidents Applauds Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland as Strategic Milestone

New York, NY — Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We congratulate the Government of Israel on its historic recognition of Somaliland. This milestone opens meaningful opportunities to deepen long-term economic partnership, advance sustainable development, and strengthen security and defense cooperation in the strategically vital Red Sea region.

“Israel’s recognition highlights Somaliland’s demonstrated contributions to counterterrorism and maritime security. These efforts strengthen not only Israel’s security, but also the security interests of the United States and its allies.

“As this new chapter begins, allies should take note of the strategic implications and opportunities this partnership presents for advancing shared interests, enhancing regional stability, and reinforcing collective security.

“We commend Israel’s leadership and welcome the promise this step holds for both nations.”
