Conference of Presidents Applauds Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between Israel and Bhutan

. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“As the Jewish people celebrate Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, we welcome the establishment of full diplomatic relations between the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Bhutan. This development demonstrates the continuing advancement of the Jewish State’s international standing.

Coming just days after Morocco became the fourth Muslim country to normalize ties with Israel since August, the Buddhist country of Bhutan’s embrace of Israel represents a growing global recognition of the Jewish State and its legitimacy. A close relationship with Israel is of immense value to any country; this new partnership will prove to be mutually beneficial to the people of Israel and Bhutan.

We thank the diplomatic corps of both countries for making this historic agreement possible. We look forward to greater cooperation between Israel and Bhutan in the agriculture, health, and water management sectors, and eagerly await additional agreements of this nature.”
