Betsy Berns Korn Assumes Role as Chair of the Conference of Presidents

New York, NY — The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations issued the following statement:

Betsy Berns Korn assumed the role of Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations on June 1, 2025, following her election as Chair-elect last year. She succeeds Harriet P. Schleifer, who concluded her second term as Chair.

Korn brings to this role a deep reservoir of experience in national and international Jewish communal leadership, including years of service at the highest levels of pro-Israel advocacy.

She previously served as National President and immediately thereafter as National Board Chair of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Since October 7th, she has traveled to Israel twelve times—including four with the Conference of Presidents—demonstrating her unwavering commitment to the U.S.-Israel relationship and her hands-on engagement during this critical period.

In addition to her active service on the Conference’s Executive Council, Korn is a Trustee of Claremont McKenna College, a member of the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee, a Board Member of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation, and a member of the Israel Economic Forum.

The Conference extends its deepest appreciation to Schleifer for her principled and steadfast leadership during a period of unprecedented challenge. Her term as Chair encompassed the seismic events of October 7th—challenges that continue to demand moral clarity, unflinching resolve, and compassionate strength. Schleifer rose to meet them with distinction, guiding the Conference and the broader Jewish community with dignity, wisdom, and a fierce commitment to Jewish unity and security.

Under Schleifer’s leadership, the Conference served as a central address for coordination, advocacy, and support. Among its many critical efforts, the Conference was the principal co-convener of the largest Jewish and pro-Israel gathering in modern history—the March for Israel on November 14, 2023—which brought over 290,000 people to the National Mall in front of the United States Capitol in a powerful demonstration of solidarity and resolve.
