. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:
“We are outraged by the UN Human Rights Office’s report that contains a blacklist of businesses ‘related to settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.’
The creation of this list is an attempt to punish companies simply for doing business in contested territory. This kind of treatment is not applied to any other contested areas around the world and serves only to fan the flames of controversy by providing Israel’s detractors with new targets. The economic boycotts encouraged by this list would harm both Palestinian and Jewish residents living in the territories, while also requiring those companies to violate US anti-boycott laws.
The UN Human Rights Council, which requested this report has once again demonstrated its blatant anti-Israel bias and has reaffirmed its role as an accomplice to the BDS movement. By needlessly inserting itself into the conflict, the UNHRC is driving Israel and the Palestinians farther apart, thereby moving the parties further away from direct negotiations, which are the only path to a lasting and secure resolution.”
