“The creation of the terrorist organization list and the inclusion of Hezbollah by the government of Argentina is an important step in the battle against international terrorism as well as a moral statement that takes on added significance as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires. That attack took eighty-five lives and wounded many others, and has been attributed to Hezbollah operatives and Iranian officials were implicated as well.
We thank President Macri and the members of his government for their resoluteness in taking this important action, and hope that other countries in South America and around the world will follow their outstanding example,” said Arthur Stark, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
“We again extend our condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the 1994 bombing, a dastardly and cowardly terrorist action, striking down innocent civilians of all faiths, although targeting the Jewish community. We hope that ultimately all those involved will be brought to justice,” the leaders said.
