New York, NY. . . Stephen M. Greenberg, Chairman and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations today commended the South Carolina legislature for taking groundbreaking steps to counter the rising tide of anti-Semitism and to reinforce protections for Jews targeted for discrimination and hate crimes motivated by anti-Semitic bigotry.
Mr. Greenberg and Mr. Hoenlein said, “As the first state in the U.S. to codify a comprehensive definition of anti-Semitism, the South Carolina legislature has taken historic action in the fight against hatred and bigotry toward Jews at time when anti-Semitism is on the rise in the U.S. and around the world. We call on all states and Congress to adopt similar measures.
We applaud South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster for his strong support of this important legislation and his commitment to sign it into law.”
