Conference of Presidents Leaders Wish President Trump Success in Advance of First Foreign Trip of His Presidency

New York, NY . . . Stephen M. Greenberg, Chairman and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations today released the following statement:

“The breadth and depth of the agenda for President Trump’s first foreign trip as President is of great significance.

By starting the trip in Riyadh with bilateral and multilateral summits with Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States and a wider group of Muslim countries, followed by his visit to Israel for separate meetings with President Rivlin and Prime Minister Netanyahu as well as Palestinian Authority President Abbas, the President will have delivered a powerful message to allies and friends in the region, and to the rest of the world, that the United States is engaged and committed to exploring new approaches to defeating ISIS and other Islamist extremist terrorist groups, countering Iran’s hegemonic threats and aggressive actions, and promoting regional cooperation and efforts to advance peace to achieve stability in the Middle East.

The issues are extraordinarily complex and creating effective solutions will take time and commitment.  By personally meeting with all of the significant players, President Trump, accompanied by his most senior foreign policy Cabinet members and advisors, will have opportunities to discuss and set in motion the steps needed to strengthen U.S. national security, the security of America’s allies and friends in the region and around the globe.

We wish the President all the best on his journey and look forward to a successful outcome.”
