Attached is the J50 Declaration on Zionism and Antisemitism, adopted by Jewish leaders and organizations representing communities from across the Diaspora at the J50 gathering in Jerusalem, which I chaired. Conference of Presidents Chair Betsy Berns Korn joined me in representing the Conference throughout the gathering and in the discussions that helped shape the declaration.
The declaration affirms Zionism as the national movement of the Jewish people and the expression of our right to self-determination in our ancient homeland, Israel. Grounded in the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, it also draws a clear line around the use of anti-Zionism to deny Jewish self-determination or to marginalize, exclude, or discriminate against Jews.
The breadth of signatories is itself significant: Jewish communities and organizations from across the world coming together in Jerusalem with a common message that Zionism is part of Jewish identity, and that we will not allow others to define it for them.
