Conference of Presidents Voices Support for U.S. Defensive Action Against Iranian Nuclear Threat

New York, NY— Betsy Berns Korn, Chair, and William C. Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement in response to U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities:

“The United States, under the direct authorization of President Donald J. Trump, carried out precision airstrikes against multiple Iranian nuclear facilities, including the fortified enrichment site at Fordow. This decisive action represents a critical and justified step to confront the existential threat posed by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Iran threatens Israel’s existence, destabilizes the region, and endangers the United States and our allies. Its illicit nuclear program—conducted in defiance of international obligations—alongside its sponsorship of terrorism and explicit calls for Israel’s annihilation, leaves no ambiguity about the regime’s intentions.

These defensive strikes—executed with precision and purpose—reflect the seriousness of the threat and the necessity of preventing Iran from reaching a nuclear threshold. We commend the United States for its leadership at this historic moment. We commend President Trump in particular for his clear-eyed recognition of the danger and for taking bold, preventative steps that may reshape the strategic landscape for generations.

Preventing a nuclear Iran is not only a moral imperative; it is a vital American and global security interest. We urge the international community to support this effort and to stand unified against regimes that seek to sow chaos, terror, and war.

We are deeply concerned about the potential for Iranian-inspired retaliation—both in the region against U.S. forces and allies, and globally against Jewish communities and institutions. We urge heightened vigilance, coordination with security authorities, and proactive measures to protect Jewish life and property around the world.

We pray for the safety of all U.S. and allied personnel involved in this mission, and for the security and well-being of the people of Israel, who continue to live under the threat of Iranian aggression. We reaffirm our unwavering support for the U.S.-Israel alliance, which remains a cornerstone of democratic values and shared security in an increasingly dangerous world.”
