Conference of Presidents Applauds Senate Passage of Supplemental Package Including Israel Aid; Urges House of Representatives to Pass Expeditiously

New York, NY… Harriet P. Schleifer, Chair, and William Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We applaud the Senate’s passage of the national security supplemental funding package, which includes $14 billion for Israel’s defense as she continues to combat the Hamas terrorist army.

“The Jewish State has a security and moral imperative to continue this campaign, as evidenced by the IDF’s successful rescue of two hostages just days ago. US assistance has been vital to the effort thus far, including the deployment of naval strike groups and aircraft carriers, multiple provisions of arms, and diplomatic efforts. With the war in its fourth month and 134 hostages remaining in the hands of terrorists, the US cannot lag in its support of this strategic ally.

“We urge the House of Representatives to take up and swiftly pass this legislation. Israel is facing existential threats that require bicameral and bipartisan support of the US Congress without delay.”
