Conference of Presidents Condemns Double War Crimes by Gaza Terrorists

New York, NY – Dianne Lob, Chair, and William Daroff, CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“As Shabbat descends on North America, we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel who are under assault from the threat of further rocket attacks, in the wake of over the launch of over 800 rockets at innocent Israeli civilians by Gaza terrorists. We mourn for the victim who was murdered in this attack and extend our prayers for swift healing to all those injured, as well as for strength and safety for the brave men and women of the IDF, Israel Police, and first responders.

“We are outraged that the international community fails to condemn the terrorists’ double war crimes: launching rockets from densely populated civilian areas in Gaza, while also deliberately aiming their ordinance at other innocent civilians in Israel. This brazen disregard for human life should be met with resolute condemnation. Silence from our allies, particularly at the United Nations, is deeply troubling. We must stand together and unequivocally denounce these acts of violent terrorism.

“We call on the international community to recognize Israel’s fundamental right, in accordance with international law, to defend itself against external threats. We commend President Biden and the US Congress for their steadfast support of Israel’s right to protect its borders, defend the safety of its civilians, and for championing a strong and lasting bilateral relationship.

“We pray for a Shabbat with much Shalom throughout all of Israel, and across the world.”
