American Jewish Leaders Applaud Senate Confirmation of Thomas Nides

. . . Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We are pleased that at this important time for Israel and the US – Israel relationship, Senators overwhelmingly confirmed Thomas Nides to be the next U.S. ambassador to Israel.

“Ambassador Nides worked closely with the Conference of Presidents when he served as Deputy Secretary of State, where he led the effort to extend loan guarantee agreements with Israel that provide billions of dollars of aid in the case of severe economic distress. We commend his commitment to advance the progress of Israel’s diplomatic engagement through the historic Abraham Accords, and value his pledge to combat the growing threat of extremist regimes in Iran, to oppose the dishonest Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and to raise awareness of the global scourge of antisemitism.

“We look forward to working with Ambassador Nides on issues of mutual concern and to continue to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
