Jewish Leaders Welcome Increased Opposition to Anti-Israel UN Resolutions

. . . Arthur Stark, Chairman, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We denounce the annual practice at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) of assaulting the legitimacy of Israel by passing multiple discriminatory resolutions against it. In keeping with this repugnant ritual, the UNGA approved five of these measures yesterday, some of which include funding for UN entities whose sole purpose is to advance an extreme and inflammatory anti-Israel narrative.

Although these resolutions passed, we welcome the growing number of countries that refuse to participate in singling out the Jewish State for criticism. In particular, we salute Australia, Canada, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and the United States for standing with Israel by voting against all of the resolutions. We also thank Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Papua New Guinea, Slovenia, and Switzerland for voting no on some of these measures, after abstaining last year.
