Jewish Leaders Welcome President Biden's Decision to Keep the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the U.S. Foreign Terrorist Organizations Blacklist, Sanctioning Hamas Money Laundering Network

New York, NY,... Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

“We strongly commend the Biden Administration for refusing to delist Iran's radical Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from the U.S. Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) blacklist and for sending a clear message in defiance of regional terrorism by sanctioning the Hamas terrorist organization’s Investment Office.

“The IRGC rightfully earned its designation as a terrorist organization responsible for untold deaths, violations of human rights, support for terror, and the targeting of American and Western interests across the globe. Maintaining the IRGC’s place on the terrorist list reaffirms America’s commitment to call out the malign behavior of this terror organization. Including the IRGC on the U.S. FTO blacklist shows support to our allies who are also combating Iran’s terror and that of its proxies. It also signals America’s resolve and determination to call out the egregious activity of these foes.

“Similarly, the Hamas investment network, which raised more than $500 million from Iran and other bad actors, amplifies the Palestinians’ ‘pay-to-slay’ mentality that rewards and encourages terrorist attacks against Israelis as well as military activities focused on harming innocent Israelis.

“We appreciate the bipartisan supermajority of U.S. senators who earlier this month supported a resolution that opposed lifting sanctions on the IRGC and declared that any nuclear deal with Tehran should also deal with Iran’s backing of terrorist activity.

“We remain particularly concerned about reports of future cash payments that the U.S. would afford Iran in a new Iran Deal – reportedly proposed to be hundreds of billions of dollars – with little ability to monitor the spending after it is transmitted. America must not invest in a regime that, along with its IRGC and terrorist proxies, has the innocent blood of Americans, Israelis, and many others on its hands.”
