Conference of Presidents on Hostage Crisis At Colleyville, TX Synagogue

New York, NY

. . . Dianne Lob, Chair, William Daroff, CEO, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Vice Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, issued the following statement:

"The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is closely monitoring the ongoing hostage crisis at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas.  We are in communication with law enforcement, as well as with our national partners at SCN and ADL, who have personnel in proximity to the synagogue.

We pray for the safety of those inside the synagogue, as well as the members of law enforcement responding at the scene.

Collectively, we must spare no effort to ensure that American Jews are safe in their houses of worship and community centers. Pittsburgh, Poway, Jersey City, and now Colleyville, must not become the “new normal” for our community."

The Conference of Presidents is the central coordinating body representing 50 national Jewish organizations on issues of national and international concern
